What has race got to do with one's ability and professional standing? Is a Malay or Indian doctor always inferior to a Chinese one? Why is it so surprising to meet a Malay physician practicing in a private hospital? People always associate a Malay doctor with the cheap and working class public hospital and a Chinese one with a expensive and classy private hospital.
Another myth is that a high fee-paying private hospital always provide quality and excellent medical treatment than the free public hospital. Richard is now undergoing medical treatment at Pantai hospital, a private hospital in Cheras. Richard's treatment involve taking x-rays, bedrest, pain relief medication, and nothing else. You will get more or less the same type of treatment and medical care for accident injury in a public hospital for free! I guess the difference is in the comfort of one's stay. In a private hospital one is actually resting in a 3 star equivalent hotel and paying the type of fees that only the wealthy and the well heeled can afford.
